Menopur contains human menopausal gonadotropin (hMG), a urinary-derived preparation containing follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH) activity. These gonadotropins directly stimulate the reproductive system.
In women, hMG is used during assisted reproductive treatment to promote the development of ovarian follicles. It may also be used with other reproductive medicines as part of controlled ovarian stimulation protocols.
