Anastrozole is a non-steroidal aromatase inhibitor that decreases estrogen synthesis by blocking aromatase activity. This mechanism makes it particularly relevant to estrogen-dependent breast cancer.
Arimidex is principally used as endocrine therapy for certain hormone-receptor-positive breast cancers, especially in postmenopausal women. Its use can occur during initial, adjuvant, or advanced-disease treatment depending on the clinical plan.
The supplied formulation contains 1mg tablets. Prolonged estrogen suppression may contribute to musculoskeletal symptoms and reduced bone mineral density, alongside other endocrine effects.
