Sermorelin, also known as GRF1-29, is a synthetic peptide corresponding to the biologically active portion of growth hormone-releasing hormone. Rather than supplying growth hormone directly, sermorelin acts on the pituitary pathway involved in stimulating endogenous growth hormone release.
This distinction separates sermorelin from recombinant human growth hormone products containing somatropin. Its pharmacological activity is therefore linked to the body’s own growth hormone secretion mechanisms.
Sermorelin has been studied and used in specific clinical contexts, although its regulatory status and approved indications can vary by jurisdiction. Considerations may include glucose metabolism, fluid retention, and effects associated with increased growth hormone and IGF-1 activity.
